6 Facts About Mama Natural

My YouTube friend Amy Dreamflight just gave me a sweet shout out video, and I was so touched to read everyone’s encouraging comments! One thing that came up a lot was a request to do more personal videos, so here goes…

  1. My grandma and grandpa were both born on August 8. I was born on August 8 too – and named after my grandma.
  2. When I was a little girl, one of my favorite things to do was to make videos with my dad. Now it’s one of my favorite things to do with my husband.
  3. I had a white light experience with Jesus on May 23, 2001.
  4. I eat two raw carrots a day, minimum.
  5. I graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder. I consider myself a mountain girl, yet I live in one of the flattest states in the nation.
  6. Mike and I dream about traveling around the world with our family when our kids are a little older. And once we have a second child :)

Okay, so those are a some facts about me. If you’d like to know anything else specific, leave your question in the comments below. And thank a bunch to Amy for the kind shootout video. Check her out. She’s super sweet and funny and an amazing educator as well.

Can’t wait to hear more about the white light experience with Jesus!!! I’m a newbie crunchy momma and on baby 3!!! Poor big kids, but baby sister will get it from day one at least. So glad to find someone who encourages healthier living AND loves the Lord so much :)

By the way, Happy Anniversary on your white light experience a few days ago! Thanks again for this wonderful service you provide to a great many communities! It all makes me wonder about your career(s) before Griffin – marketing/broadcasting/journalism? – and whether you are still doing it independently of Mama Natural, or are building this natural talent you have into a new business right from your home?

Love this! I agree it’s fun seeing personal videos. Some of your best videos I thought were during your pregnancy in which you explained your reaction to some decisions that had presented themselves and what your thought process was and how you came to your decision, those were really good.

Another 8/8 here. My sister is 7/7 and my daughter 6/6. Love those fun birthday numbers!

Hope you all had a great vacation!

I like that you remember your “new birth” date! We were careful to take note of the date each of our 7 children, one-by-one, made the decision to ask Jesus-Christ to be Lord of their lives, and then each year on those dates we made a Jell-o to “celebrate”. The child…eventually teen-ager… would talk about how it came about, the events that led up to their decision (for instance, for one of the kids it was because she was caught in a lie, and as we talked about it, and how that can hurt her and others, it helped her to realize her need of a Saviour) – their sharing has helped them keep the details/that decision fresh in their minds. I didn’t want to do cakes for that…already had lots of BD cakes to make throughout the year as it was…needed something easy and QUICK! At one point we learned the song (sung to the known “Happy Birthday” tune): “Happy Birthday to you, only one will not do
    ‘Born again’ brings salvation…
    We’re glad you have two!”

Denise, what a GREAT idea! My little ones are all still under 3 (three of them!), and they haven’t asked Jesus to be Lord of their lives yet. We pray for them to do so – at a YOUNG age – every day, though! I love your idea of celebrating their second b-day each year…I think I’ll take it and run with it!

Gotta love the flat midwest :) I’m right there with ya, and mountains? Who needs them when you have 10,000 lakes and more coastline than California. Can you tell I’m a proud Minnesotan?

I’m so glad you made a video like this. I’ve wondered more about your spiritual experiences. It is so evident that you love god and know The Savior, you have a light that shines and it comes out in the good works that you do! Work it lady. I’d love to hear more if you are ever comfortable sharing on this blog.

I’ve heard Minnesota is gorgeous. Mike went to college there. Need to see those lakes!

Thanks for your kind words about the Jesus light :)>. I hope to do some more spiritual videos/posts in this year.

  10. Lauren May 1 at 11:55 am

My mother-in-law’s birthday is August 8th. Cool!
I live in Colorado and it is a beautiful state, however, I cannot stand the wind. I dream about moving back to the East Coast a lot!

  11. Laura May 1 at 11:34 am

What is the flat state you live in?! My husband and I both went to CU Boulder and are avid mountain people. We moved away 5 yrs ago and we had HIGH hopes to move back this summer but we are now headed to Iowa. Iowa?! Where is that? Will we survive without the West?

  12. Crys Manson May 1 at 11:27 am

Love! My little Cole (about to turn 9 months) was born on August 8. It’s a really good day, but I’m obviously biased.
