Religiously Drinking Red Raspberry Leaf Tea Helped Helped Lisa During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

I realized I was in labor when I awoke at 3 a.m. with mild cramping. It was so exciting. My husband and I just relaxed all morning. I drank my red raspberry leaf tea and tracked my contractions before heading to the hospital.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

The most challenging thing about going natural was not knowing whether or not the nurses at the hospital would be supportive or not. Thankfully, they were wonderful and encouraged me every step of the way. They were also very vocal about how impressed they were with me. That alone gave me the confidence to push on! (No pun intended). ;)

The most helpful thing I did to prepare for childbirth was religiously drink red raspberry leaf tea! I truly believe the tea contributed to my quick and easy labor. Pelvic tilts and squats were also great exercises to help prepare my body for childbirth. Research and prayer were two other major factors in my preparation.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

I was surprised at how well I handled the pain! There was a moment when I asked my nurse when transition was going to happen. She just cocked her head at me and said, "You already got through it. You're in active labor." I was so relieved and proud of myself.

Massage and relaxation worked the best for me! I had back labor so it felt really good when my support team would massage my lower back. Keeping the lights dim and music on helped me focus and relax.

I ended up delivering semi-reclined on the bed. I tried other positions like on all fours and squatting, but I found that being reclined helped me relax between pushes.

Pure bliss. I will never forget looking down at my wet, beautiful, dark-haired daughter and feeling that motherly love. And knowing that my body was capable of birthing her is the most empowering feeling!
