Valentina Name Meaning

A beautiful Latin name with fabulous meaning, Valentina has seen a surge in popularity in recent years. Just as gorgeous as her sisters Victoria and Veronica, Valentina is finally getting the recognition she deserves.

Like Isabella, Valentina is bursting at the seams with romantic vibes, a delicate name with a whole lot of spice under the surface. She’s a bold pick, unafraid of standing out and making a name for herself. She’s not one to be stuffed in a corner, always craving the limelight.

While she is no doubt over-the-top and grand, Valentina is also adorable on a little girl. She has just enough sparkle to be at home in a tea party but enough seriousness to not sound cutesy in a boardroom. She also has incredible nickname potential, including the Val and Tina that you’d expect as well as the precious Tiny and Leni and the polished Valen. These allow her some added versatility as she ages.

Some may instantly recognize her as a strong girl name, while others may worry she’s too frilly. With Valentina, there is more power than you think behind her with the incredible meaning of “strong and healthy.” Seriously, what’s not to love about that?

  3. My husband is Peruvian and I’m Russian so we were looking for a name that is used in both cultures. We also love that many brave women have this name and it has a good meaning. Translate from Latin means “Healthy and strong”. It goes with our last name perfectly too. So it’s a win-win

  4. We first started with the name Valeria and then we looked up top 10 names and it came up,and it’s not a name you here often. It’s such a beautiful simple name. My student had a sister name Valentina.

  5. Valentina was derived from the word Valens, which means “healthy” and “strong.” It was fitting for our family since my husband is a Cancer Survivor and we just pray for a healthy and strong baby! We also loved all the nicknames this name can have!

  6. I love my name…it’s unique. I believe in the meaning of my name..I’m now 54 yrs old..and I have over came its trualot in my life. .it’s true I’m strong n healthy and beautiful.

  7. We named our daughter Valentina. She is one year old, a beautiful princess, strong, happy, healthy. We are bilingual with Spanish and Italian heritage. The name fits her perfectly.

  8. Valentina stems from the word Valient or brave. She is a worrier and strong girl .

  9. We are Peruvian and Valentina is a Latin name, it means strong, valiant, brave and that is why I chose it for my baby since I had a rough pregnancy and she survived it all. She is sassy, strong willed and valiant just like her name. Plus its super girly and can be pronounced in both Spanish and English

  10. I’m in love

  11. I choose this name for my baby Valentina in honor of my mother in law may she rest in peace I love it

  12. Valentina sounds like “valiente” in Spanish and since we are a bilingual household we thought it would also be easy to say in both languages. We loved that “valiente” means “brave” and that she will grow up knowing she needs to be brave and tackle what this world will challenge her with as a woman and as a human.

  13. Valentina is a Latin name and we are peruvian and I wanted a Latin name that could be pronounced well in both Spanish & English. Valentina means valiant , strong & brave and I had a very difficult pregnancy & a few times I did not think she was going to make it. But true to her name she is a fighter & has got quite the fiery personality too

  14. I love that Valentina sounds both strong and princess-y. It is not super common where we live so she’ll be unique and if she decides to get married and change her last name as an adult then her Italian heritage will still be represented. Since she has a very long first name we gave her a short middle name to balance it out. I didn’t name her to fit with a theme but it is fun that we can call her Val, her brother Hal, and me Al. 🙂
