Acupuncture and Evening Primrose Oil Helped Candice During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    I had to be induced as I was 11 days overdue!

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

    the pain.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

    Acupuncture and evening primrose oil. As I had to be induced being overdue I believe the acupuncture and epo ripened my cervix and I avoided the first part of the induction.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    That time went so quickly even when I was in labour for 13 hours, time went really fast.

  • Don't be disappointed in yourself if things don't go to plan, as soon as you have the baby it doesn't matter the path you took to get there!
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    Gas and air was working very well until 4.5 hours into labour the back labour pains started and I didn't want to deal with both the front and back pain, so I listened to my body and mind and went with what was best for me and got an epi.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    On my back which was the last position I wanted to deliver in.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    Super emotional, my husband laughs at me every now and then because I kept crying "my baby!"

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

    Don't be disappointed in yourself if things don't go to plan, as soon as you have the baby it doesn't matter the path you took to get there!
