Elizabeth's 43 Hour Labor and Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    I realized I was in labor when contractions started right off the bat at 5 minutes apart, and did not let up until baby came, 43 hours later!

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

    The most challenging thing was going through the labor and delivery on very little sleep.

    The most helpful thing was definitely my birth class, I learned so many things that helped me throughout each stage of labor and made me feel "in charge" of my labor.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    I was definitely surprised at how intense the urge to push is, when it comes! I couldn't get the baby out quick enough!

  • The most challenging thing was going through the labor and delivery on very little sleep.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    I labored a lot in the tub, that was the best pain relief for me.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    I delivered on the squat stool.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    No words could describe how full my heart was when I saw my little guy for the first time.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

    You can do it!! It is so worth it!
