When did you realize you were really in labor?
I had to be induced at the hospital for IUGR, which broke my heart since I wanted a totally natural birth, but I was determined to have the least amount of intervention possible.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
After many hours of labor, going into transition, I was questioning if I could really make it through. Lack of faith in myself was probably the hardest part.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Taking the Mama Natural Birth Course and hiring a doula!

What surprised you about your birth?
I did it! And I pushed her out while squatting... I never would have expected that!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Having my husband and doula push on my hips during a contraction and having them use the acupressure points on my back.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Squatting! (Though they flipped me on the bed once she crowned)

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Surreal. I felt my heart grow 10x it's size. She was perfect.

How did the Mama Natural Birth Class help you in your childbirth?
It prepared me to make informed decisions and the confidence that I could actually have a natural birth, even in a hospital. Though I was on Pitocin the whole time, I consider it a success!
