When did you realize you were really in labor?
I realized I was in labor when my contractions were starting to get painful. On May 23rd I was only 2cm dilated and my contractions were only 5 minutes apart. Around 10 pm after a warm bath they were 2 minutes apart and excruciating and then I was 6 cm by midnight!
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing about going natural was remembering the breathing techniques will have contractions. My mom was coaching me and telling me to breathe!
What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
The most helpful thing I did to prepare myself was reading a lot of baby books and staying active to get my body ready!
What surprised you about your birth?
What surprised me about my birth was how quick it all happened and how strong I was! This being my 1st birth I felt amazingly strong. Experiencing the transition of how my body naturally did its own thing and brought forth life.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Pain relief strategies I uses were only breathing techniques and squatting in the hospital bed relieve pressure.
What position did you end up delivering in?
I delivered the basic way. Which was on my back and legs pushed back, my mother, soon to be mother in law and my fiance all held my legs.
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
The first time I held my son I was in a state of shock! First, because he looked just like his father and second because I was in love with him and he cried as I rocked him and kissed him.
What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
The advice I'd give is, even if you have a plan of how you want things to go, it may not go the way you want it too. Just pray, breathe and let your body take over because it knows exactly what to do!!
