Seeing A Prenatal Chiropractor And Drinking Red Raspberry Leaf Tea Helped Melissa During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

After 4 days of being induced and hospitalized I started having intense contractions that were coming every 2 minutes, I could barely get a breath out let alone talk, at that point I knew it was go time.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

For me the most challenging thing was the fact that I was delivering alost a month early and being on pitocin for days, pitoicin with no pain management is rough, the pain is intense, I had to constantly remind myself why I was going natural.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Seeing a prenatal chiropractor and drinking red raspberry leaf tea helped my body get ready for labor, once labor started I had my baby in a couple hours and I only had to push 2 times and miraculously I didn't tear! My prior labor I pushed for almost 3 hours and tore horribly!

  • What surprised you about your birth?

Once I got into the transition stage I almost threw in the towel, I swore I needed an epidural, but I got through it without one, and it was over so quickly.

  • The pain is temporary and so worth it, I have had births with pain management and without, and for me without was so much quicker, and such an easier postpartum healing process.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Massage with essential oils worked best for me, along with prayer and meditation. I also moaned through contractions, and took lots of baths.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

I delivered laying back with my knees up, I was partially sitting up, like I was doing a crunch.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

I felt euphoric when they laid baby Silo on me, I was smitten, empowered, and instantly forgot about the pain I had just endured.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

The pain is temporary and so worth it, I have had births with pain management and without, and for me without was so much quicker, and such an easier postpartum healing process.
