When did you realize you were really in labor?
I knew it was coming Monday. Was having Braxton Hicks contractions with cramping. Really started Tuesday night at 6:45.
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Mindset and I did my early labor on my own. It was hard to stay in the right mindset. Once I got to the birth center with my birth partner and Doula, it didn't seem like it was so bad.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Finding a Doula that also did acupuncture! Her being able to help bring on my contractions when I was exhausted really helped!
-
What surprised you about your birth?
How exhausting it was. I know they tell you it's a marathon, but that early labor was tough. The active labor wasn't nearly as bad, even though I pushed for three hours.

You can do it. Make sure you have a good support team during the early and active labor and a good Mindset. Also, if you can, carb load and protein! I wish I had been able to eat more to boost my energy.
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
The tub really helped and acupressure points did too! Breathing and focusing on the fact that I would meet our baby soon!
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back, in the bed.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Wonderful. He was perfect and sweet and it was the most amazing feeling.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
You can do it. Make sure you have a good support team during the early and active labor and a good Mindset. Also, if you can, carb load and protein! I wish I had been able to eat more to boost my energy.
