This week baby is packing on the pounds—okay, ounces. And it’s time to brew a magical pregnancy elixir that can help shorten labor (yes, really)!
Heya, good lookin’! Your baby’s natural beauty continues to blossom this week, with more hair making its debut on her scalp and even her eyebrows. Of course, don’t book a salon appointment just yet—it’s usually very fine hair that’s hard to see. But trust me, it’s the beginning of something beautiful.
Baby has doubled in weight this past week, now weighing in at over 2 ounces (about as much as 10 quarters). Measured from the top of her head to the bottom of her butt (“crown to rump”), she is 4 inches long.
Baby continues to move that growing body too! All her joints and limbs are mobile now, so she’s able to get seriously funky with her movements. She can even wiggle individual fingers and toes. Talented little thing!
Although baby’s eyelids are still closed, she’s able to sense light now. In fact, if you shined a powerful flashlight at your tummy, she’d most likely move away from the beam. Can’t blame her—a girl’s gotta get her beauty rest.
You are growing in a most wonderful way. Your uterus is almost at your hipbones now. During your appointments, your midwife or OB will be measuring "fundal height,” which is the distance from the top of the uterus (fundus) to the pubic bone.
Most moms have gained around 5 pounds by week 15. But don’t fret if you’ve gained a few more or a few less—your body knows what it's doing.
Something that always makes me feel better, no matter the size of my body, is exercise. Now is a great time to get started if you haven't already.
I’m not talking CrossFit (but kudos to you if that’s your thing). I’m talking about moving your body every day. The benefits are endless… from boosting your immune system to your energy levels, endorphins, and mood.
Studies show that women who exercise also have healthier pregnancies and births too.
But the benefits don't just stop with mama. Exercising can also benefit your little one! In fact, it may just make baby smarter!

If you talk to any midwife, doula, or crunchy mama, you’re practically guaranteed to hear about the importance of drinking red raspberry leaf tea for pregnancy.
I drank it with both my pregnancies. All my friends did. I’ve heard from tons of mamas on Facebook and via email about the benefits of red raspberry leaf tea.
But does it really work? What does the science say? And when is the right time to drink it?
