Curious what baby will look like when s/he makes her debut? Why do we get crazy pregnancy dreams? Plus, what you NEED to pack in your hospital bag.
Okay, we’ve said this a bunch over the past month or so, but this week baby really does look a LOT like she will when she makes her big debut!
Speaking of which, you’ll be relieved to know that babies born at 34 weeks with no other health issues are usually healthy and need nothing more than a little time in the neonatal nursery. Phew!
Baby natural is 19 inches long this week and closing in on 5 pounds. Her lungs are nearly mature now, and her fat layers are filling in. Her beautiful eyes are fully open, only closing when it’s time to doze off.
Baby has begun receiving your antibodies to develop and protect her immune system. When you breastfeed, baby will continue to receive your antibodies for as long as you nurse.
As mamas, we’ll do whatever it takes to protect our kids. And that starts before they’re even born. :)
Fun fact: when you begin weaning your baby (hopefully a long time from now) and your milk amounts decrease, your antibodies become much more concentrated. That means your little on-the-go toddler who just wants a sip here and there will still get an antibody boost.
How cool is that?
Sleep and pregnancy don’t always go hand-in-hand.
But just as you've got all those things figured out... you start getting up 100 times a night to pee. Sheesh.
And don’t even get me started about pregnancy dreams! At one point during my pregnancy, I kept having dreams about guys from high school and hot romps. What is the deal? I was (and am) madly in love with my husband!
Turns out that the crazy dreams during pregnancy may be a way to deal with all of the incredible changes going on in our lives. As I thought about it, these sexy dreams were really about my feelings around my greatly expanding body.
Some mamas dream of war scenes, or losing teeth, or falling from the sky… yep, all totally natural as your subconscious tries to process all the changes and anxieties around motherhood.
Breathe deeply, journal about your feelings, and know that what happens in dreamland stays in dreamland. :)

What’s the most exciting trip you’ve ever packed for?
Aside from packing for my honeymoon, I think packing my delivery bag is at the top of my list.
The first time around, I packed too little. The second time around, I packed too much.
Here's a post and video from that second time around. :)
Have a look, and get inspired for your own bag!
