When did you realize you were really in labor?
I woke up with cramps which had happened a few times the previous week so I thought I would just go back to sleep but they kept getting stronger. I knew it was the real deal when my water broke!

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Hire a doula, research comfort methods and alternative pushing positions, and surrender my fears to God!

What surprised you about your birth?
It went super fast, 5 1/2 hrs!

Don't just "see how it goes". Make a plan and prepare prepare prepare. BUT be flexible knowing that everything can change quickly in birth.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing, low grunting and hip compressions

What position did you end up delivering in?
I pushed on my knees and then delivered on my back.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
I felt relieved, accomplished, elated, and surprised it was a girl!!!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
