Camila Name Meaning

Oh Camila, how stunning you are. The Portuguese and Spanish version of Camilla and Camillus, Camila has an exotic flair about it that you can’t help but love. She rolls off the tongue easily and is almost melodic in her pronunciation.

Meaning “young religious servant,” Camila has ancient Roman roots in Camillus, a name bestowed upon St Camillus de Lellis, a healer of the sick in the 1500s. She offers a subtle nod towards religion and healing in her history, the perfect name for a little one on the mend or seeking to inspire others.

Camila is zestier than Camilla with the added bonus of the nickname Mila, a hot chart climber for years. She also has the adorable Cami up her sleeve and serves as an alternate to the unisex moniker Cameron. She fits in well with Valeria, Valentina, and Ariana, her smooth sound easy on the ears.

A Camila can grow with her name, free to explore whatever the world has to offer without the fear of coming off too immature. She’s undeterred by obstacles and tackles each with fierce determination. She has a fire within that’s sure to spark passion in everything she does.

Variants of the name include Camille, Kamila, and Mila. The male version is Camilo.
