  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

Thanksgiving night, just before we sat down to have dinner my water broke.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

I felt that my husband and I were "fighting" to have a natural labor. Although I trust my midwives, but still I kept questioning every single thing they had to do.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

    Reading birth stories!

  • What surprised you about your birth?

I had to have a c section, but I had the most amazing one.. I walked into the OR with a lot of fear and negative energy.. I was in panic mode, how I am going to take care of a baby and a toddler, I don't want to be separated from my newborn etc etc
But instead, my midwives placed my daughter right on my chest (as you see in the picture) and she even had her first meal in the OR while they were stitching me up.. I loved every moment of the procedure and although my dream of a VBAC had fallen apart but the way I look at it is, well, I have a daughter so maybe I could experience a natural birth through her when she has kids her own!
