  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

Not knowing how much longer I would be in labor, and being alone for a good part of my labor.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Taking natural birth classes at the birth center, birth affirmations and acknowledging my fears about birth.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

Giving birth in the car and having absolutely no interventions!

  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Counterpressure on my back and going in the tub or shower.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

It felt wonderful, but surprising! We weren't quite ready for her.

  • What did you name your baby, and why?

We named her Aurora because we liked the name. We later found out this was my mother-in-law's grandmother's name!

  • How did the Mama Natural Birth Class help you in your childbirth?

I would say that doing "horse lips" throughout labor helped me to relax and have an easier labor than my first!
