When did you realize you were really in labor?
I started feeling painful contractions and knew this had to be labor. This was my second birth and I remembered when real labor started with my 1st child, the contractions were painful.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Not knowing how much longer I would be in labor, and being alone for a good part of my labor.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Taking natural birth classes at the birth center, birth affirmations and acknowledging my fears about birth.

What surprised you about your birth?
Giving birth in the car and having absolutely no interventions!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Counterpressure on my back and going in the tub or shower.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
It felt wonderful, but surprising! We weren't quite ready for her.

What did you name your baby, and why?
We named her Aurora because we liked the name. We later found out this was my mother-in-law's grandmother's name!

How did the Mama Natural Birth Class help you in your childbirth?
I would say that doing "horse lips" throughout labor helped me to relax and have an easier labor than my first!
