Working Out and Keeping Herself Healthy and Strong Helped Coll During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    Things got really tough at transition but I knew for sure I was in labor Thursday afternoon. The baby was born Friday morning.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

    The most challenging part was maintaining control and trying to be stronger than those contractions specifically in the last few hours before delivery.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

    The most useful thing I did to prepare was continue to workout and keep myself healthy and strong. Also, I found that some of the reading I did on mind over matter and controlling your emotions to maintain strong was helpful!

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    That I did it au natural! I wanted to do it so badly after getting an epidural with my first at 7cm. I'm so happy I was able to do it.

  • It was incredible- just like it was with my first. It's the most amazing feeling...ever. So incredibly blessed!
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    I found that grunting & moaning through the contractions really worked for me.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    I delivered in the bed, feet in stirrups.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    It was incredible- just like it was with my first. It's the most amazing feeling...ever. So incredibly blessed!

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

    You can do it! Mind over matter!
