When did you realize you were really in labor?
At 37 weeks, I began to swell in my feet really bad. I was diagnosed with preeclampsia . My blood pressure progressively elevated and I had small contractions.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing about going natural is laboring without pain medication and dealing with intense contractions. I found true relief when I began to push.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I made sure I stayed positive during the process. I read birth affirmations and always told myself I can do this.

What surprised you about your birth?
Being induced often can take long hours until it’s time to deliver. My story was a lot different. Once the doctor broke my water, just 30 minutes after I went into active labor and gave birth naturally at 6 cm.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Do what’s best for your body. Everyone is different, but I encourage anyone who goes natural to focus on remaining positive during the process, research, practice techniques, read birth affirmations, create a birth plan and remain strong.
