Birth Stories

Breathing and Warm Bath Helped Rachel in Her Birth Center Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

I'd just sat down after cleaning the house top to bottom when I heard this 'pop' and realized my waters had gone. Before this I'd not had any obvious contractions or pain. Labour was intense and progressed very quickly after that.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

Being in the house on my own not knowing what was happening was very scary. My mobile was downstairs but everytime I stood up to get it another intense contraction would start and I couldn't move. Also going through transition without a midwife/doula present was horrible as I began to panic and scare myself.
