Birth Stories

Perineal Adjustment Helped Wendy Achieve Her Home Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

About 1:15 PM. I had been watching Netflix while my other 2 kids were napping and realized that I had been having contractions about a minute apart for the past 10 minutes.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

The biggest challenge for me was making sure I was eating and drinking enough throughout the day cause it could happen any time and I wanted to have enough energy.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Perineal Adjustment! Keeps everything aligned so that when baby drops he/she won't get stuck.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

It was so easy. Only one push. Besides about 5 super intense contractions it was basically painless.

  • Don't be afraid. Fear causes tension which leads to pain. If you have a belief that your body was meant to do this and that birth is a normal natural thing it will be a whole lot less painful and scary.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Breathing and kinda squatting down with the contractions.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

On my knees, almost sitting back on my heels in the water.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

I was speechless and almost giddy. I just felt complete.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

Don't be afraid. Fear causes tension which leads to pain. If you have a belief that your body was meant to do this and that birth is a normal natural thing it will be a whole lot less painful and scary.
