When did you realize you were really in labor?
I had contractions all Halloween day but my husband had to work second shift so I stuck it out and took my kids trick or treating. When my husband got home from work I drove myself to the hospital at 1am with contractions every 2 minutes.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
It didn't work. My 7th baby and I had no choice but have a c section:(

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Nothing I planned happened. Nothing went how I planned.

What surprised you about your birth?
Everything. I was in labor over 24 hours ......didn't dilate much...had a horrible c-section and nothing went right.

The only thing that went right was my baby is perfect and safe and I'll get there one day. My 7th baby and first c section. I would rather have a hundred vaginal births but I'm just thankful I have my new Lil man.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
They gave me 4 spinals.....messed them up....but the. 5th worked.

What position did you end up delivering in?
On a c section table.....took over an hour....

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
It took 2 hours from the time they pulled him out until I got out of surgery and upstairs. Because they messed up my spInal 4 times I had to lay flat on my back till after midnight. I finally got to hold my baby on my chest skin to skin. I couldn't sit up or look at him much and I was in so much pain but I was so thankful to finally hold him.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Do your best but expect the unexpected. Nothing went as I planned. 3 days after c section they took the drain tube and staples out and fluid poured out of my belly. I ended up with a bad infection and had a second surgery and 2.5 weeks in the hospital. But my baby was perfect. I'm still looking at daily trips to the hospital for the next several months to heal. The only thing that went right was my baby is perfect and safe and I'll get there one day. My 7th baby and first c section. I would rather have a hundred vaginal births but I'm just thankful I have my new Lil man.
