When did you realize you were really in labor?
Labor began around midnight. Was in denial until about 6am when I began heavily bleeding and couldn't focus on anything but my contractions.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Being too exhausted to get in the position I wanted. Also that 40 minute car ride!

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Hired a doula, read up and educated myself on everything! I mentally prepared myself and let it happen on its own.

What surprised you about your birth?
How fast it seemingly went (12.5 hours) and how even though it had been about 30 hours since I last slept I was on that adrenaline rush the second I met her.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Having my hips squeezed and rubbed. Focusing on one thing during contractions.

What position did you end up delivering in?
My back. The one I didn't want to be in, but I was too exhausted to move and they had insisted I be checked so I couldn't get off my back afterwards.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
What an exhilarating rush! It was over and I finally had her!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Educate yourself!! Hire a doula and/or midwife! Know your options and immerse yourself deeply into each topic.
