When did you realize you were really in labor?
When I decided to go inz I wasn't sure if it was labor or not. I was almost 5 days pat my due date and I had been having contractions off and on all day and I had started bleeding so that's why I chose to go in.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I have had 3 out of 5 of my kids natural with no epidural so it was actually not very challenging. I just remembered to breathe through my contractions and told myself that it wasn't going to last forever and that the closer they got and stronger they got, it meant the baby was going to come soon.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Nothing really. This was my 5th and last baby I had so I knew the drill and what to do.

What surprised you about your birth?
I was surprised at how fast it went compared to my last birth. I was in labor for about 5 hrs.

Just do it!! Remember that the pain is temporary and it will go away as soon as the baby is born. Just remember to breathe through those strong contractions and you can get through it.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
I was able to labor in the tub so it helped a lot.

What position did you end up delivering in?
The usual on my back with my legs in the stirrups.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
It felt amazing and I was so relieved that he was finally out of me and in my arms.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
My best advice is to just do it!! Remember that the pain is temporary and it will go away as soon as the baby is born. Just remember to breathe through those strong contractions and you can get through it.
