  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Mediation in third trimester and yoga

  • What surprised you about your birth?

The pushing was the easy part, after 48 hours of contractions!

  • You CAN do it, it's scary only because you don't know what to expect or how you'll handle it, but if you do your research and prepare you will feel more comfortable. Have a good support system.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Having a doula to help me into different positions and keep me calm, all fours leaning on the back of the bed was best!
Also the birthing tub and showering helped a lot!

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    In the tub on back

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

The most amazing feeling ever, the pain of labor and delivery went out the door, I immediately forgot about it and all that mattered was him!

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

You CAN do it, it's scary only because you don't know what to expect or how you'll handle it, but if you do your research and prepare you will feel more comfortable. Have a good support system, my fiance and doula stuck it out with me and it was a long labor, without them I wouldn't have been able to do it!
I always thought the alternative to natural birth was much scarier, so it wasn't an option for me, I wanted to be in control and wanted to be able to move around and be comfortable (as comfortable as possible!)
