  • What surprised you about your birth?

    I dilated 10cm in 6 hours all at home. By the time I reached the birth center I was fully dilated and ready to push, little did I know that would take another 6 hours!

  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    Water tub and hot shower, although they may have slowed my labor a bit.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    On hands and knees on the floor.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    Incredible! After all that hard work I was so exhausted. I think every emotion went through me all at once, it is nothing like Ive ever felt and I will never forget it! It is true what they say: that all of your senses are hightened and you have this amazing high for days after.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

    Do your research! Read as much as possible, especially anything by Ina May Gaskin but also Birthing From Within. Also work out and take your vitamins.
