When did you realize you were really in labor?
I had rented a professional appholstery cleaner from Lowe's to deep clean my couch before company came over to see the new baby- around 12:30pm I noticed stronger contractions than normal at 8 minutes apart while I was cleaning the couch. At 1:30pm I called my boyfriend home from work so we could return the cleaning machine to Lowes before going to the hospital.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing about going natural was the exhaustion. I was in labor for 26 hours naturally and only dilated to 7.5cm. I was mentally and physically strong for so long but the exhaustion got to me after too long.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Squats and sitting on an exercise ball were both very helpful for the physical preparation. Talking with my Doula and reading about labor and delivery as much as possible to know what to expect.

What surprised you about your birth?
I was surprised that I could handle much more pain than I thought.

Do your research. Educate self on a csection and it's recovery just in case. Lean on your labor and delivery team.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Reminding myself if was temporary. Deep moaning helped the most. Counting through the contractions.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I had to have a cesarean section due to a fibroid on my cervix. I labored naturally for 26 hours prior.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Holding my baby for the first time and nursing was absolutely magical. I couldn't believe he'd been in me that whole time!

Do your research. Educate self on a csection and it's recovery just in case. Lean on your labor and delivery team.
