When did you realize you were really in labor?
1/10/17 I had a long early labor. It started around 6am and when contractions had continued by 2pm. I was sure this was the real deal!

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I labored at home just like I did with my first. This labor my contractions were not coming consistently at 3-7 min apart they would range from 12 min to 3 min apart and I was unsure if my body was doing what it needed to in progressing. Also having to care for a toddler while in labor was difficult. I wanted quiet and calm and I didn't have what I envisioned

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I prayed a lot! Reminded myself that God was in control.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
I felt the ring of fire this time. Also I was nervous I wouldn't know when to leave for the hospital. I didn't want to go in too early. When it came time it was like instinct, I knew when it was time.

Make your mind up. I felt I didn't give myself a plan B! Also get a doula!! The support emotionally and help with pain relief is so helpful!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
As a breathed through each contraction I imagined what my body was doing. Opening and working my baby down. Also my partner did hip squeeze or sacral pressure during contractions.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back. I thought I would birth hands and knees by the nurse and dr told me no. I was a little disappointed since I requested to deliver how I wanted and my dr said that was fine but I didn't feel like arguing while in labor and feeling ready to push.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
