First Time Mom Ana Had a 7 Hour Birth, Start to Finish

  • Video Interview With Ana

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

When my contractions started getting really close together. Then my water broke and I knew it was real.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

Most challenging thing about going natural was trusting the process and that car ride to the hospital!

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Stay active and keep a positive mindset!

  • What surprised you about your birth?

How fast it was! First time mom and it was about 7 hours in total with no signs of labor prior to that.

  • I actually was straightening my hair in between contractions to fill my time between the waves.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Bouncing on a big exercise ball, keeping the room dark, counter pressure and honestly just distracting myself! I actually was straightening my hair in between contractions to fill my time between the waves.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

It didn’t feel real at first. I couldn’t believe I was finally looking at this tiny baby that was growing inside me for 40 weeks!

  • What did you name your baby, and why?

We named our baby Adelyn Marie. We liked how it sounded together. We hope to one day have a boy and name him Adam so both of their names will kinda sound alike 😆 We gave her Marie which is my middle name!

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

That you can do it! You don’t need a high pain tolerance. You just need to trust that your body can do this. It was designed to be able to give birth and to feed your baby!
