Bradley Method Helped Sarah During Her Birth Center Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

When my Braxton Hicks contractions went on and became more regular and more forceful

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

My little girl was posterior presentation and with each contraction my body would automatically try to push her out, Miley midwife told me that I had to resist pushing because it was causing cervical swelling and would eventually swell to the point where I could not birth my daughter because I was not yet dilated enough

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Bradley method classes and telling myself that this was possible and the best thing for me and my baby

  • What surprised you about your birth?

My labor was only 7 hours! I progressed to active labor, contractions every 3 minutes within an hr and a half of labor starting

  • Tell yourself you can do it and don't give up or let anyone tell you different.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Laboring in the tub, squeezing my husband's hand through every contraction

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

In the tub, on my back

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

Unreal. I couldn't believe I had just pushed her out

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

Tell yourself you can do it and don't give up or let anyone tell you different.
