When did you realize you were really in labor?
On my sweet hubby's birthday! He kept saying all along I was going to go into labor on his birthday.....sure enough I did. I had went on a long walk that morning. Came home took a bath and a nap. I woke up with contractions coming every 20 min. I went to the birth center to get checked but was sent home.....:( I was told it was false labor. My contractions seemed to taper off so we went out for dinner and then went home to relax. We went to bed around 10 pm...I woke up to very strong contractions coming every ten min. Headed to the birth center and our beautiful boy was born at 1:06 am. So my labor and delivery was only 2 hours. I had a natural water birth and it was such an empowering experience!8

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The labor was a piece of cake! I stayed calm and relaxed which I think is the key to having a faster and smoother birth. I would have to say that the head crowning was the hardest part.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Going to the chiropractor once a week!

What surprised you about your birth?
That I was able to get up and walk around without any pain after. Going natural was so much easier than being induced.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Swaying my hips and just really focusing on my breathing and keeping my whole body relaxed.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I delivered in a semi recline in the birthing tub.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
It was amazing! So much love! There are not really words to express how beautiful it was.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Trust your body! It knows what to do!
