  1. We picked Eliana for our third child because she’s our rainbow baby. We lost our second child in pregnancy and we were both happy and scared to know we were having another one. Eliana means “my God has answered” and it was perfectly fitting for all we had been through.

  2. My husband and I chose Eliana because we like the sound of it and we like having the option of calling our little one Ellie.

  3. The name is Hebrew for God has answered my request. After being told for 16 years that I couldn’t have kids and it was going to be a low chance I constantly prayed for a baby. One day God answered me yes!!!! And she’s my miracle baby my blessing from God. I had the name picked out years ago that if I had a girl this would be her name. Eliana has a smile that is contagious, big brown eyes and is funny. People are just drawn to her and just loves has to be the center of attention.

  4. Eliana means The Lord has answered. I love this! He surely has answered a longing I wasn’t aware of!

  5. She was a very prayed for baby. We tried for years and lost our other conceived child. So when we found out it was a girl, we searched and searched and found this Hebrew name that means “God has answered”. Her middle name is River for a bit of Earth in there. My other daughters middle name is Rain and my step daughter’s middle name is Rose.
    So Eliana River

  6. I first heard this name 8 years ago when pregnant with my third. I immediately loved it and thought that I would use it with the next girl that I had. Well 8 years and 3 pregnancies later, I finally got the chance to use it.

The Hebrew meaning of this name is “God has answered” and he has in so many ways during this pregnancy and my labor and birth. During the pregnancy, we didn’t know the sex of the baby, and I prayed about what the name was to be. Even though I had this name chosen for a girl, I wanted to be sure it would be the right name for this girl (if it was a girl). He answered and confirmed that it was. During the labor we prayed about the different circumstances and He answered in different ways, providing peace in the uncertainties, providing the right medical team, and supportive reminders. She is definitely living up to her name from the beginning of her life. I am excited to see how else it will be fulfilled as she grows.

  7. Eliana sounded beautiful and is Hebrew for “My God has answered.” When baby was born, she required a full resucitation and a ventilator, so I cried out to God, “Please breathe life back into her.” He did, so I knew that the name Eliana was perfect for her.

  8. The meaning of Eliana in Hebrew is “God has answered” brought me to naming my daughter. My husband and I had some very important, positive life changing events happen during my pregnancy and right before she was born that only God could do, so we felt she was God’s answer to us.

  9. I chose Eliana’s name because it means “My God has spoken” and she was very much an answered prayer for our family. The only thing that bugs me about her name is when people pronounce it incorrectly, usually as Elaina.

  10. “E” name after my deceased grandmother Elsie. We liked the name Eliana and it means my g-d has answered in Hebrew.

  11. It was my first son that chose the name.He has been praying that God should give him a sister and God answered him.the meaning of the name is God has answered my prayer.

  12. We like to choose our baby names based on meaning or legacy. We loved Eliana because it means “my God has answered me”, we paired with Grace so her name would mean “My God has answered me (with) grace” .

    • Also because it sounds so beautiful and melodic ?

  13. I was looking for a name to go with the middle name AnneMarie (tribute to my new husband’s late grandmother/best friend) and it was also important that it be meaningful. Eliana has a Hebrew meaning and it’s “my God has answered.” I love the beautiful breathy sound of the name and the way it rolls off the tongue. God knew the prayer of my heart, one that I could never speak without feeling a sense of loss or even betrayal and that prayer was to have a partner to raise my children with and not to go through life grieving and alone. The husband of my youth (10 beautiful years and four gorgeous children) was killed in Afghanistan and many years later, my children and I have been blessed to find a wonderful man who blesses our lives daily. God answered my prayer and then some when our daughter Eliana joined our family on September 10th, 2018.

  14. Means: God has answered
We spell it Ellyana and call her Elly
