Birth Stories

Jasmine's Amazing Home Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

I labored on and off all day but around 9pm it really picked up.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

I had my first all natural so I remembered the ring of fire. While I was pushing with my second I was kind of holding back because I wasn't excited about that part.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

My husband and I took a Bradley Method class before we had our first child.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

I was super worried I'd end up in a hospital. But everything ended up going how I planned and prayed to happen. I felt so blessed!

  • You wait for 40+ weeks, labor, pushing and then they are finally there. Seeing their beautiful faces just make everything so worth it.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    BREATHING, moving and making sounds!

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

I supported myself with my arms in the birthing tub and was kind of sitting.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

Amazing! Holding both of my children was such a rewarding feeling. You wait for 40+ weeks, labor, pushing and then they are finally there. Seeing their beautiful faces just make everything so worth it.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

I'd really suggest taking birthing classes with your husband/partner. Reading books. Just preparing together. Writing a birthing plan. Making sure he's on the same page as you and willing to make sure you have the birth you envision.
