When did you realize you were really in labor?
It was 10 pm when my water broke. I called my midwife. She advised me to sit in the shower for a bit and try to relax.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I live in the Netherlands and there a natural birth is very common. So for me it was not that challenging. My husband is French and there it is very rare to do a natural birth so it was more challenging for him than for me.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Yoga helped me a lot in terms of breathing as well as exercises to open up the pelvis area. My husband, family and friends were all really supportive which helped as well.

What surprised you about your birth?
The fact that i was so calm and relaxed and that i pushed my baby out within 6 hours. No tearing or intervening.

I believe breathing the right way is very important (yoga breathing). Also surround yourself with people that are positive about natural childbirth.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing and pinching my husbands hands.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Llaying on my back.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Incredible!
