Mentally Preparing Herself That Things Don't Always Go As Planned Helped Beth During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    I didnt go into labor naturally. I was supposed to have a c-section because my baby was still breech at 39 weeks. But she decided to flip head down as they were preparing me for surgery. I was induced at that point

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

    Natural. Heck no. Sorry i cant handle pain

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

    Mentally prepare that things dont always go as planned. Babies have a mind of their own

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    The fact that my baby flipped from breech to head down as i was being prepared for surgery. And that my epidural quit working at the end so i felt everything. I only pushed for 8 minutes though!!

  • Do what you feel is best for yourself and baby. Don't let someone tell you what you should or shouldn't do.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    Epidural and when it quit working, well it was horrible pain. The only thing that helped at that point was getting baby out!

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    Normal way. On back, feet in the stirrup things and bars i could hold on to. I really think those bars helped alot with pushing

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    Amazing. I loved her way before she was born. And even more when i saw her

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

    Do what you feel is best for yourself and baby. Don't let someone tell you what you should or shouldn't do.
