  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Prepared spiritually I read and listen to scriptures about childbirth. I also had a doula who was wonderful and helped me cope with the pain.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

It was my 3rd VBAC after 4 C-sections the baby was 9 lbs 11oz and came in 4 hours.

  • Prepare physically and spiritually. Get rid of fear don't even go there. Hire a doula. Horse lips. During labor keep moving even if you don't feel like it. It will help bring the baby down. I was on the bed strapped to a monitor but kept moving from side to side and I know that helped.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Heating pad on my back. My husband and doula looking me in the eyes and encouraging me. My doula reminding me to relax during the contraction. Horse lips. Praying and having worship music playing.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

On my back with my legs up because the baby was so big they thought his shoulders would get stuck but that didn't happen.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

I felt Joy and relief I was overflowing with thankfulness to God. It was my third VBAC after 4 C-sections with a big baby 9 pounds 11 oz who came quickly in 4 hours and there were no complications. It was Supernatural.Only God!

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

Prepare physically and spiritually. Get rid of fear don't even go there. Hire a doula. Horse lips. During labor keep moving even if you don't feel like it. It will help bring the baby down. I was on the bed strapped to a monitor but kept moving from side to side and I know that helped.
