When did you realize you were really in labor?
My water broke on Tuesday and I had contractions off and on for the next 3 days.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I grew up super natural and always knew I would do a natural birth. For me the most challenging thing was being ok with having a hit of pitocin because my labor wasn't progressing in its own.

What surprised you about your birth?
How long it took! My water broke on Tuesday and our baby girl arrived Saturday after 8 hours of pushing.

I learned everything I needed to know about birth, hospitals, interventions and healthy alternatives.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing and relaxing techniques. Also a hot pad held on my lower back was HUGE!

What position did you end up delivering in?
Squatting on the hospital bed with my husband behind me helping to hold me up.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Surreal. It took me a while to fully understand what was happening.
