  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    Due to my age I was induced.

    The last hour of hard labor.

    Being very open with my midwife about what was most important to me.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    Even though my midwife has said that it was fast for an induction (25 hours), it still felt like it took forever!

  • Find a practitioner that you can really trust. And that comes from someone with major trust issues when it comes to the medical field!
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    Changing positions and the midwife telling me how many of my breaths it was taking to get through a contraction. It was very helpful to have a number to focus on and to know that it wasn't going to last forever.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    Squatting with a bar to support myself.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    There aren't words..... but if I had to pick a couple I would go with: exhilarating, relief, joy, peace.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

    Find a practitioner that you can really trust. And that comes from someone with major trust issues when it comes to the medical field!
