When did you realize you were really in labor?
My 2 year old daughter woke up around 4am June 17th and I noticed I was having some pretty hard contractions and after laying in the tub for about an hour I realized they weren't going anywhere and that I was in actual labor.

Knowing the pain was only going to get worse

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
RESEARCH. If it wasn't for all the reading I did on the subject I'm not sure I would've been able to mentally have a natural birth. Birth stories from other moms help the most.

What surprised you about your birth?
That a women's body just literally knows exactly what to do.

Don't give yourself another option. Go into it telling yourself that's what you're going to do and don't doubt your ability to do it!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing through EVERY contraction and counter pressure with double hip squeezes.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Lying on the hospital bed.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Amazing. Nothing compares to holding your baby for the first time, no matter how many you have.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Don't give yourself another option. Go into it telling yourself that's what you're going to do and don't doubt your ability to do it!
