What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I'm an RN so I know everything that is supposed to happen but I wished I would have taken a laboring class. I would have learned better breathing techniques.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
It was not as painful as everyone makes it seem. I was so glad I did not have an epidural.

It's so worth it. I would take a course to help with breathing techniques. Our bodies are built to deliver babies, trust the process.
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing. Having my mom there to talk to me.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
My baby had the cord around her neck and ended up in respiratory distress and required oxygen so I did not get to hold her until after the first 2 hours. When they finally brought her to me I was so excited I wanted to hold her forever.
