Going To The Chiropractor Helped Rebecca During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

3:00 pm on Saturday September 24th contractions started at a consistent 5 min apart for about 30 secondso and progressed from there

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

My cervix never dilated on its own

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Reading about everything and going to the Chiropractor.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

It's was 55 hrs and 40 min and would have been days longer if I kept it natural but I needed sleep and a break my contractions go to point to no breaks in between and they were strong but no dilation.

  • Go as long as you can but if your body doesn't cooperate like mine didn't it's OK. As long as you give it your best efforts you did all you could. But you still get your baby in the end and that's what matters most!!
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Breathing with doula pushing down on shoulders when exhaling and pulling up while inhaling kept me focused. Warm bath with jets.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

Sitting up on back...had an epidural at this point but I could feel contractions very well to push. Only pushed 30 min and it felt faster. This part was so much fun!!!

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    Wonderful and surreal!

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

Go as long as you can but if your body doesn't cooperate like mine didn't it's OK. As long as you give it your best efforts you did all you could. But you still get your baby in the end and that's what matters most!!
