When did you realize you were really in labor?
I was 39 weeks along, on Wednesday I saw my OB and decided to be checked just to see where I was at. I was not dilated and baby girl was SUPER high. Fast forward to Friday morning...I woke up at 2:30am to strong contractions that were about 6 minutes apart. They were stop in your tracks strong. After the second contraction I woke up my husband and told him we had to go!

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
This was my fourth natural birth, and each time the most challenging part has been relaxing to let my body do what it needed to do.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I love reading POSITIVE birth stories! Prayer was also huge for me this time around. My baby kept turning transverse and my OB had also mentioned a possibility of induction at 39 weeks due to baby number three's shoulders being tight when I delivered him. I had to give it to God and trust that he would protect me and my baby girl.

What surprised you about your birth?
This birth was fast! Within three hours from being awoken by contractions she was born! I had no time to walk, use the birthing ball, etc like I had during my other labors.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
When contractions came my husband applied counter pressure to my lower back.

What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back, pulling legs in towards me.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Euphoric! I was so relieved and in disbelief that she was here - a girl! (I had three boys before her) I also couldn't believe how fast and smoothly my labor went.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Have a great supportive team who will encourage and support you. My husband and mom have been there for me through each of my births and were amazing each time!
