What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Hypnobirthing Relaxation Recordings
-
What surprised you about your birth?
That I was able to labor on my own for 6 hours before even waking my husband for support. The baby was born less than two hours after I woke him.

Now that I have given birth with no pain meds three times, that is all I know and what I have come to expect. They are really just necessary sensations to breathe through.
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
Water relief was a Godsend in my last two labors but this one went so fast, we didn't even have time to get in the pool.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
Hands and knees.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Relief - it was over and it was early morning and we could introduce him to his siblings straight away before they went to Grandma's.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Just do it! Most midwives are prepared for any complication that arises. I have had quite a few "complications" in my day and they were more than qualified to handle every situation with grace and it really made it a non issue - just part of the territory. Now that I have given birth with no pain meds three times, that is all I know and what I have come to expect. They are really just necessary sensations to breathe through.
