Mama Natural Childbirth Course Helped Kimberly Achieve Her Natural Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    I realized I was really in labor when I stopped breathing through contractions and had to make LOUD-controlled noises.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

    The most challenging thing about going natural was the lower back pain. With each contraction, the lower back pain was intense. But once my nurse said it would go away as soon as I pushed the baby out that motivated me to not stop fighting through it.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

    The most helpful thing I did to prepare for childbirth was purchase the Mama Natural Birth Course. I knew I wanted to deliver drug-free but I wasn’t educated on how to. After watching the videos in the Mama Natural birth course I was confident and truly wasn’t blindsided by anything when I went into labor.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    What surprised me about my birth was how long I was able to labor at home before heading to the hospital. I labored at home for 16 hours and once we got to the hospital I was 8cm dilated.

  • You’ve got to surrender yourself and realize that you were created to do this and the pain is but for a moment. It may feel scary and intense at times but it doesn’t last. You’ve got to spend time thinking positive and be thankful for the comfort and the discomfort because it all means there’s a miracle about to enter your life. And then when that miracle arrives remember to take in each moment and live each day with grace.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    Ice on my back and a washcloth on my forehead helped me in between contractions to find some relief.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    Holding my baby for the first time was indescribable. I was so thankful to God for the miracle He just blessed with me.

  • What did you name your baby, and why?

    Grant, because we liked the name but now realize that it represents how God truly did “Grant” our every prayer about pregnancy, labor, and delivery.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

    You’ve got to surrender yourself and realize that you were created to do this and the pain is but for a moment. It may feel scary and intense at times but it doesn’t last.
