The most helpful thing I did to prepare was watch take a natural birth course with my husband, watch natural births and watch natural birth advice on YouTube.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

What surprised me was contractions started out at 5 minutes apart for 1 minute long each. I was told this starts later into labor but it started quick for me.

  • My advice is to practice relaxing, take a natural birth class, and watch natural births. Its so important to educate yourself the best you can before you go into labor.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

I birthed my son in a tub and that worked wonders for my lower back pressure. Before I went into the tub my mother-in-law was massaging my lower back which worked wonders during contractions.

I delivered in the tub in the sitting squat position.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

I was so relieved to finally have him in my arms. I was in such awe.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
