Birth Stories

Victoria's Natural Birth Center Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

I was kinda crampy all day, I didn't really realize I was in early labor until my water all of a sudden broke.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

The most challenging thing is going through the transition state. I was really questioning myself, but I only questioned myself once and got on with birthing my baby the way I wanted to.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

I researched, I took Bradley method classes, and I had support from my husband.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

I had my baby in under 4 hours! But I also surprised myself on how powerful I was and how much strength I had.

  • Amazing! It's like nothing in the world mattered anymore. It was me, my husband and our beautiful baby boy.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

I went into the tub for a little while and that really helped with the contractions.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

I squatted on the bed post and pushed my baby down. Once I started to crown, I went onto the bed so my husband could catch our baby and hand him to me.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

Amazing! It's like nothing in the world mattered anymore. It was me, my husband and our beautiful baby boy.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

Research, research, Research! Don't let your OB or anybody push you into something you don't want to do. Take natural birthing classes, do your exercises, and hire a midwife and Doula! For more of my story the link it posted.
