Changing Her Attitude and Thinking Positively Helped Marisa During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

(I wasn't able to deliver natural as planned- but I delivered my baby nontheless!)

I was reading Hypnobaby and preparing for months. I was so excited to experience the "mama-strength" of birthing a child into the world! Around 36 weeks, I went in for my checkup and the doctor discovered my boy had turned breech. I tried every trick in the book and was practically on my head for 3 weeks. Baby wasn't turning...
I felt like a failure. I felt like I would be missing out. Even though I couldn't control the circumstances, I felt it was somehow my fault and I would be "less of a mom" by delivering cesarean. Once I accepted that in just a few short days I would be delivering my son via c-section- I changed my attitude. I was going to have a beautiful birth whether my sweet breech boy liked it or not! Ha!
The entire process was a lot less scary than I anticipated. It was kind of exciting knowing what day to expect our boy! We audio recorded the entire birth and still cry listening to it. Hearing your baby cry for the first time- whether they were born naturally or c-section- is a wonderful gift full of joy!
