What surprised you about your birth?
I had him 20 minutes after getting to the hospital and I didn't even know I was in actual labor until my water broke , about 40 minutes before birthing

What pain relief strategies worked best?
I was leaning on a birthing ball for a while for some back pain I had while listening to birth affirmations (again not knowing I was in labor) . Once my water broke I leaned on my boyfriend and he squeezed my hips together

Laying on the hospital bed

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Relieved and so much joy! I had been so uncomfortable through this pregnancy since the beginning and joy to have him with us. I didn't have an ultrasound so we found out about the gender at birth. It was a great surprise even though I had a feeling it was a boy!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Raspberry leaf tea I feel helps a lot during pregnancy and after. Find coping mechanisms that work for you for coping with "pain". Also don't think of it as pain. I found quotes from Ina May Gaskin especially helpful and also audio of birthing affirmations.
