  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Drinking red raspberry leaf tea I think really made a difference

  • What surprised you about your birth?

I had him 20 minutes after getting to the hospital and I didn't even know I was in actual labor until my water broke , about 40 minutes before birthing

  • Find coping mechanisms that work for you for coping with "pain". Also don't think of it as pain.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

I was leaning on a birthing ball for a while for some back pain I had while listening to birth affirmations (again not knowing I was in labor) . Once my water broke I leaned on my boyfriend and he squeezed my hips together

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    Laying on the hospital bed

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

Relieved and so much joy! I had been so uncomfortable through this pregnancy since the beginning and joy to have him with us. I didn't have an ultrasound so we found out about the gender at birth. It was a great surprise even though I had a feeling it was a boy!

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

Raspberry leaf tea I feel helps a lot during pregnancy and after. Find coping mechanisms that work for you for coping with "pain". Also don't think of it as pain. I found quotes from Ina May Gaskin especially helpful and also audio of birthing affirmations.
