When did you realize you were really in labor?
I had a lot of prodromal labor the 2 weeks prior to real labor. It took me a few hours to realize my contractions were not going away. About 3 hours after they woke me up did I realize this really could finally be it.

Patients through the prodromal labor and once I passed my EDD.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Education and working with a midwife through a child birthing class. Knowing my options and what to watch for so I could wait and labor at home prior to going into the hospital. To avoid hospital interventions.

What surprised you about your birth?
I was able to have the labor and delivery I wanted at a hospital! Waiting till your body and baby are ready with spontaneous labor, made the recovery and delivery way easier. No tearing and felt great only 2 days after. Vs my 2 other babies were totally different.

Be 100% committed, and prepare yourself for any and all possibilities. Educate yourself and have a great support team that can assist you to the labor and delivery.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Relaxing and focusing through contractions.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Tried initially on all fours. But ended up flipping to my back. And delivered him that way.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Amazing and what a beautiful perfect miracle.
