Knowing Her Birth Plan and Having Her OB On Board Helped Kellen During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

At my 36 week appointment, I was diagnosed with polyhydramnios. I had been dilated to 6 and 90% effaced with contractions 8 minutes apart for two weeks. I left the appointment and stopped to vote on my way home. My water broke in the voting booth and I knew then I was obviously in labor!

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

Oddly enough, emptying my bladder. I’ve always had kidney and bladder issues, but this was the second birth it stopped me from progressing! If I couldn’t get my bladder empty, the baby wouldn’t move down to the birth canal. We did finally get it all sorted out and baby was born healthy.
