Practicing Birthing Movements Helped Cherie During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    1;30 am on Saturday the 24th of May (5 days passed due date)

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

    Nothing. It was a long hard birth. But not made any harder by going natural.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

    Gentle yoga. Practicing birthing movements that felt natural to the way my body moves. Visualization and meditation.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    The amount of times my daughter half crowned (ring of fire) only to move back up. Also how easily my placenta came away and birthed.

  • Be selective of who gets to be at the birth. Stick to what you know is best for you and your baby.You were built to do this, your body knows how. Take your time.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    Water- shower, birthing pool. Gas once I began pushing, and during the repairs (getting stitched back up). Visualization. Movement, lots of movement.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    A very deep squat with in the birthing pool.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    Relieved and over whelmed all at once.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

    Be selective of who gets to be at the birth. Stick to what you know is best for you and your baby.You were built to do this, your body knows how. Take your time.
