Praying and Trusting in God Helped Elizabeth During Her Home Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

Right when my husband and I laid down to go to bed. I had my first real contraction and then one more. I knew it was go time.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

Nothing challenging. Just knowing the pain was coming and I had to get through it again.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Praying and trusting in God with the outcome.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

How fast it went. I knew second time moms could sometimes have faster births... But only three minutes of pushing. I was in shock, but so happy!

  • No matter your birth outcome the baby is coming out one way or another. Trust the process though. You'll be surprised how your body works without medical intervention. The recovery time of doing it drug free is such a reward.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Only thing that helped me was standing up and letting gravity do its job.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

On the side of my bed down on my knees

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    Wonderful, once again.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

No matter your birth outcome the baby is coming out one way or another. Trust the process though. You'll be surprised how your body works without medical intervention. The recovery time of doing it drug free is such a reward.
